I was watching from a chair and got lots of good views, looking a little bit up at the dancers on that evening. Such a beautiful dance - tango - and I never tire of watching (and painting). This is on 12 x 9" panel. Delighted you stopped by!

Tango Together - original oil figurative painting
I should have something Halloweenish, but instead, more from my little tango dancers. They love dancing around and I adore trying to capture their moves. This is on 7 x 5" Gessobord. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Tango Moment Again - original oil figurative painting
The second of my series of three 14 x 11" tango paintings that I've done recently. They will be available at Artworks in Austin, Texas. No matter what else I may paint, I always come back to tango - just the beautiful way the dancers move in unison. The steps are gorgeous in themselves: He knows his part and she knows hers and they work beautifully together.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

Tango Drama Again - original oil figurative painting
It's actually raining here - I was beginning to think it would never happen again! As if it had forgotten how or something. So, I'm going to go to bed and just listen to the beautiful sound of rain and feel so happy that I got all my pinks planted today! This painting is on 14 x 11" Fredrix paintboard. Thanks for looking!

Inkster Passion - original ink figurative drawing
I don't think I've posted this before - it's something I did on-site from life - but I came across it today and remembered that it was to be the basis for a painting. What pleases me about this little drawing is that although it's not 'perfect', I did it from life with a ballpoint pen and it has all the emotion I observed in that tango couple. It may never become a painting because when I've done a drawing I really like, the painting that follows is always a disappointment to me. It's on 11 x 14" paper, but it probably looks best at about 10 x 10".
I added Junction Rivers Winery on the sidebar, where a few of my dancer paintings are on the walls at the moment. It's one of Junction's most interesting places to be and if you're anywhere near our little town on the Llano River, you should drop by and sample their award-winning wines and delicious food. It's great to have such a charming bistro here - you will just love this place!

More Tango Sizzle - original oil figurative painting
This couple was so passionate and I loved watching them. I saw them dance in San Antonio; I made a tiny little sketch that would probably look crazy to anyone else, but it's my own personal art shorthand. From that sketch, I did this painting. It's 7 x 5" on Gessobord - I had such a good time painting this one! Thanks so much for visiting Hackberry Street Studio! Sold

More Tango Sweethearts - original oil figurative painting
Here's my favorite reason for putting paint on board - my tango dancing couple who never tire of this wonderful dance. Check out this site for dancing info and how-to. The painting is 7 x 5" on Gessobord. Thanks so much for visiting - I'm signing off now from the hot, dry inferno that is Texas these days. Stay cool! Sold

A Little Tango Kick - original oil figurative painting by Connie Chadwell
I'm back to my blog after a few days' absence, with lots of drawings that I will be turning into paintings - nudes, and bar and restaurant scenes.
Here is one of the tango paintings that I did several days ago. I loved the way the woman of this couple seemed so languid in this pose, but offered the little kick - or patada - I think it's called. The painting is 7 x 5" on Gessobord.

Invitation - oil figure painting by Connie Chadwell
She did accept his invitation to dance (although I thought for a minute there she would turn him down) and they made a beautiful couple.
This painting was done from an earlier drawing and I painted it very quickly, which is why there are lots of brushmarks and it's not very detailed. That's my favorite way to paint and for the most part, the only way I paint (or draw, for that matter). It just makes me happy! SOLD
This one is 7 x 5" on Ampersand Gessobord.

Tango Romance - original oil figure painting
Here's another of my tango paintings - a tough pose to do, but when you're painting something you love, it works out. This dance combines expressiveness and the beauty of the figure in motion - two of my favorite things; so no matter what else I may draw or paint, I always come back to tango. This one is 7 x 5" on gessoed board.
It's so cold today that I just stayed in my cozy studio and did five new small paintings (including this one) that I will post in the coming days.
Thanks for stopping by!SOLD

Tango Mood - oil figure painting
This little painting is one of my favorites - everything just worked. She kept her head down the way I wanted and they both cooperated because, I think, they really wanted to dance together.
It's 7x5" on gessoed board. Thanks for stopping by!
