I saw this "pose" once at a tango demo - it was a slight pause, then she spun away. I thought it was such a sweet moment. This painting was done on Strathmore acrylic paper - tough, heavy and great to work with and also good for oil pastel. Although it's on 12 x 12" paper, I matted this piece to about 11 x 9".
Currently, I'm trying to organize my art supplies - and have come to the conclusion that I'm a "paperholic". I really do love paper - have all kinds, watercolor, oil, oil pastel, charcoal, soft pastel, printmaking and even paper with inclusions in it - but I do wish I hadn't loved it quite as much as I have!
Really glad you stopped by😀

On My Easel - Woman in Red Dress - Torchsinger - acrylic figurative in progress
Much to work out here - I hope without doing too much modeling of the figure. I love torch singers and am thinking that may be what she is, with her scarf/handkerchief in her hand (needing work). I took the pose from Nude with a Fan, posted earlier on my blog. First, I covered the 12 x 12" canvas with black gesso and started from there. Don't know if I will keep the little picture on the wall, probably not. And her arms, especially, need work - who am I kidding - it all needs work and that's the fun of it! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog - when I'm finished with this painting, I will post it.

Three Gals on Green - original acrylic figurative
Just a fun thing I did while cleaning my palette - it's on 8 x 8" cradled panel. I love greens - cool greens mixed with warm greens and I really love those made with black and golds and yellows. The greens on this piece, though, are straight from the tube. They're nice to work with, too. Thanks so much for looking!

On My Easel - original acrylic portrait in progress
I'm working on this piece with acrylic paints. Like most everything I'm doing right now, it needs a bit of time to get it finished, which I hope to do tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

Jumpin' Jivers - original acrylic figurative painting
Yes, I really saw it - I think youth is the first prerequisite for a jump like this one! And tons of practice, because he didn't seem to give it a second thought - all in a day's work! He probably didn't think of it as work, though, just lots of fun. I used Golden Open acrylic paint on an 8 x 8" panel. Thanks for looking!

All Out Jive - original acrylic figurative painting
I know - it's a little crazy looking - but I love the abandon and just went with it. I like how this fella dances and the girl has just returned to the floor after a jump. Didn't have room on the panel for both of them to be airborne. Was listening to my workout music while painting and it is definitely jive - the only problem is that I should use it more, rather than just listening as I paint! This piece is on gessoed panel, 7 x 5". Thanks for looking!

Jive Happy - original acrylic figurative painting
More crazy jivers doing their thing on a 12 x 16" panel. Usually I paint in oil, but sometimes acrylic is such fun and I find it really liberating. Another great thing about acrylic is that it dries so fast - gotta love that! Thanks for visiting my blog!
