Girl in Blue - original oil portrait drawing
I just loved doing this one - I think I've found a new love. But of course, I seem to find one every time I try something new. I used a bright blue acrylic paint for the panel, then drew on it with oil paint. There's just something so fulfilling about having a good art day and I am really grateful for that. On 7 x 5" panel. Thanks for looking!

On My Easel - seated model oil figurative work in progress
I started the painting of my previous charcoal drawing on 14 x 11" Fredrix paint board - one of my very favorite surfaces. My accompaniment today was the soundtrack, or at least, the music that was 'inspired by' - as they put it - Call the Midwife. So many sweet songs are included - mostly from the late 50s, and maybe early 60s. Will finish this tomorrow, working on my grays - they really need some oomph! Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

On My Easel - Sketch for Flamenco - original oil figurative sketch
I should probably call this 'can you figure out what this is?' - a sort of shorthand, I guess. I know how it should end, and I'm very hopeful, but the best intentions don't always turn out as one would like. So I'm fully prepared, knowing it may join lots of others I've thrown in the garbage this week. I find it hard to get rid of things that I once liked or maybe even just liked one passage in the painting, and keep them well past their prime. Gotta be tough, I keep telling myself. Thanks for stopping by and listening to my little rant or maybe it was a pep talk to myself.

Dance With Me - WIP oil figurative sketch
I've been away for several days and am only now getting back to painting. However, when I got to my studio today, I realized that I had left my oil paints behind so I resorted to using oil sticks - not oil pastels - but oil paint in a stick. I didn't finish this sketch, and I don't know that I will do anything more to it. It's just a painting of the moment and it's okay with me to leave it this way - really I do like things sort of unfinished. Tomorrow, back to tube paints and brushes. I drew/painted this on 10 x 8" archival canvas board. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Cello Practice - original figurative oil painting
This quick painting is on 10 x 8" archival canvas board. I've been wanting to do a painting of a cello player and this is an oil sketch toward that goal. I'll do a few more to better understand the position of the player and the instrument before I do a larger painting. This was fun - thanks so much for stopping by!

Girl on a Sofa - original figurative oil sketch by Connie Chadwell
I had fun doing this little painting, which is really a preparatory sketch for a larger, more complicated one that I am planning to do later. This time I used thalo blue, which gives that greenish color - don't know if I'll keep using it or if I'll go back to another blue. I do love greenish blues, though, so maybe. Today's painting is done on gessoed panel and is 8 x 10". Thanks so much for visiting my blog! SOLD
