Early Spring - original pastel pencil drawing

This drawing is of one of my Dutch irises, which I didn't expect to bloom 'til later - my backyard has been absolutely full of roses for weeks, which is earlier than usual.  I used my Carbothello pastel pencils on 12 x 9" Colourfix paper for this one.

Exquisite and delicately beautiful. The green behind the yellow flower is a master-stroke.

Our roses are only just in bud, for we are far to the north of you, in fact, apart from Alaska, I think we are north of all the US States. This tiny bit of Welsh coastline is exposed to the Atlantic air streams which keeps us relatively frost free all year round!

Thank you so much, John! Your climate sounds wonderful - and frost free - so great! I just drool over the gardens in all the British programs I watch.
