Red Mug - original oil pastel portrait painting

This little 7 x 5" painting on Pastelbord began with a drawing of a young woman sitting in a cafĂ©.  She was having a quiet moment before getting back in the fray.  I left this pretty loose and it's not really "finished", but that's my kind of thing.  Thanks so much for visiting!

So much atmosphere and personality expressed so simply. I like.

I really like the spontaneity in the hands, arms and blouse. A whole painting done in that manner would be.. fantastic. Faces are difficult to see abstractly if we care about a likeness. Sometimes we finish off a nice painting by sticking a face on it. Hopefully you know what I'm getting at. It is certainly not that I dislike this fine painting.

Leaving it loose is perfect...
Another wonderful pose and love the light on her face...
