Joyful Jive - original ink and watercolor figurative painting
My little jivers showed up today in ink (applied with a very thin dowel) and watercolor. Done quickly in order not to overwork, it's on 9 x 12" cold press watercolor paper. I know, I know, I could go back and make lots of corrections, but I'm not going to because I love crazy lines and there are definitely lots of them here! Currently, I'm listening to Barbara Tuchman's The Proud Tower on audible.com. I can't decide whether it's better to listen to something or to draw in complete silence. Do most artists like it to be quiet when they draw? That would make an interesting survey. Any thoughts on this?

Wonderful crazy lines. I do love the ink work and flowing colors.
When drawing/painting with a live model, there needs to be music in the background. When working alone in my studio there is silences, with voices and sometimes random music flowing in my head.
First of all, I love your crazy lines..This is SOOOOO good, Connie! Your music is perfect for this painting.. You can feel how fast they're dancing.... Keep it up! I usually paint with Classical music...maybe I should change?? lol
I love it when you paint like this. It is so expressive and never worried. Have you ever done a face study with this technique? I'd love to see that! You slip in and out of styles so effortlessly. It is amazing.
Thanks, Anthony - I like music in the background when in a drawing group, as well; it seems to keep people focused on the task at hand.
Hi Hilda and thank you - I like classical music, too - and it's supposed to be good for one's brain, I hear, so I need lots of it! (smile)
Wow, Jeff! Thank you! No, I've never been brave enough to do a portrait - maybe I could do a self-portrait, since I won't insult myself. Thanks so much for stopping by!
