Flowered Robe - original oil pastel figurative sketch by Connie Chadwell
This is quick sketch - well, I guess most sketches are quick - of the model as she put on her robe at break. She was nice enough to hold it for a few minutes and we - being the nice people we are - let her take a longer break. Probably didn't get all the flowers in the right places, but there wasn't much time.
I did this one on sand-colored 7 x 5"Pastelbord. This is a really great color - am coming to love it more all the time. Thanks so much for stopping by! Pssst - see what's going on at

Connie, I love this moment caught in time. That's your forte! The flowers are all in the right spots and so is the lovely color this painting. Nice one!
Thanks so much, Elizabeth, I appreciate your nice comment!
Beautiful. I met an oil pastel artist at Cottonwood Art Festival Sun., loved his work, and ran out an bought some to play with in my journal. What brand do you prefer? These I bought were not very expensive but easy to get. Thanks, n
Great sketch. Nice model too.
Thank you, Nancy! As to a favorite pastel brand, I use Caran d'Ache, Holbein, some Sakura, a few van Gogh, but I guess Sennelier is the one I rely on the most. Each brand has its strong points, though, so it's difficult to pick an absolute favorite.
Thank you, Anthony, and I agree about the model - she was a pleasure to draw.
One of yor best so far and I mean that in the midst of all those great ones this one I really do love.
Thank you so much, Ralph, I'm delighted to hear your lovely comment!
Really beautiful sketch Connie! It's those fleeting moments in time which are the best!
Thanks so much, Sheila. I agree that it's fun to find those unposed moments - they really are the best! Thank you for visiting!
