Another Flamenco - original oil figurative painting

Using the previously posted drawing as my model, I painted this little flamenco dancer today when I attended the Thursday Painters - a group of artists who paint together once a week.
When I do the larger version of this painting, I will be able to include the fan that's in the drawing.
This is done on Gessobord, 7 x 5". Thanks for visiting my blog!
Drawing for Flamenco - original charcoal figurative drawing

I am continuing my series of flamenco dancers and this is one of the drawings I will be using for these Spanish dancer paintings. It's charcoal on 14 x 11" Strathmore drawing paper. In a few minutes, I'll post the miniature painting that I did from this drawing.

Party Girl - oil pastel figurative painting

I was so intrigued by the position of this young woman's legs as she held forth on something or other for her listeners. She was very animated and became even more so as the evening wore on. Luckily, I had my little drawing notebook with me. The "model" enjoyed seeing my drawings of her, too. Kind of a 'candid camera' thing, but with charcoal. When I got back to my studio, I painted this very quickly from the gesture drawing.
The Ampersand Pastelbord that I used in this painting - and most of my oil pastels, lately - is just great for these quick drawing/paintings. This one is 7 x 5".
Thanks so much for dropping by!

Renaissance Man - original oil figurative painting

I spent some time recently at an art museum and even though I was there to see the art, much of my time was spent doing tiny little sketches of the people I saw. Actually, I had not intended to do any drawing and all I had with me was a 4 x 2 1/2" memo pad, but that proved to be enough. Art and people - what a great afternoon!
This painting is oil on panel and is 7 x 5". Thanks for visiting my blog.

Texas Two Step - original oil figurative painting

This dance is dear to my heart. It's in every dance hall in Texas and lots of other places, now. It seems to work for everything the band plays, except for a waltz - and I've even seen a few misguided souls attempt two stepping to a waltz.
The lights above the dancers are reminiscent of those in open air dance pavilions.
I plan to do more country dance paintings, along with my tango series, so I hope you will come back for another look. Thanks for stopping by!
The painting is 12 x 9" on stretched canvas. SOLD
