Another Tango

More people dancing - I seem to have this urge to do these drawings. I guess I should call it a series. Oil pastel on Mi-tientes board. SOLD

Bullrider

I love to do rodeo drawings - I can scribble them very quickly and fill them in later. This began with a drawing I did at a rodeo last summer. I put a little watercolor over it and added oil pastel. It has an unfinished look, but I'll just let it stay that way.

Gangster

This model is also an actor and I'm always delighted when he shows up to pose. Charcoal.

Geisha 3

This little sketch is oil pastel on cold press watercolor paper. I decided the chair was a little too red in the first photo, so I stroked warm green over it.

Flamenco

I love to watch flamenco dancers - all dancers , really. This is a first attempt - I will probably finish it after the holidays.

The paint will be more deliberate and there will be other dancers and a guitarist in the background. I just wanted to get the drawing of the dancer done. This is acrylic on board.

Tango - figure sketch

Charcoal. I sketched this, but will change the position of the male dancer's head and eliminate most of the background, I think - stay tuned.

Portrait of Chris

This was to be a longer pose, but my model got tired of the whole thing after about 22 minutes, therefore it's a 22 minute pose. Charcoal.

Portrait in an Orange Bikini

This 20 minute pose was done with acrylic - a medium I'm going to try to work with more often.

Study of Roger - Dog Portrait

I just wanted to sketch my wonderful boy, Roger, after we came home from our evening walk. He was the perfect model for about 15 minutes, which was enough time for this little drawing. Charcoal pencil on Strathmore 400.

Three Figures

Here the model is turning slightly to the right and I have attempted to capture these quick poses with a brush and three or four hues of acrylic paint on a piece of canvas.

Three Girls

This little painting is done from a drawing of three young women in the park. I don't know whether they had played some sport or had been running, but they were tired, which was good for me, since they hardly moved. I'm not finished, so will work on it some more tonight or tomorrow. Oil, 8"x10".

Nude on Black 2

A quick drawing that required me to scribble furiously to get my impressions on paper. This is a very pebbly paper that I really love to draw on, especially with oil pastel.

Sleeping Nude

Watercolor isn't my medium, but this was fun for a change, anyway.

Jive

This charcoal drawing is a silhouette exercise that I had fun with. I'm a firm believer in drawing exercises - and I really should take the time to do more of these.

Nude on Black Paper

This is another twenty minute drawing using oil pastel. I was working more with value than color.

Essence

Another life drawing. For me, there's nothing like a quick charcoal drawing to capture the essence of the model's pose.

Backward Glance

I love line - it's so expressive! While I really like to paint, drawing is my obsession.

Mission San Jose

This is one I did this past summer - pastel on coldpress watercolor paper.

Ricky's Chair

A knife painting of Ricky relaxing in his favorite chair. Oil. Fun.

Hill Country Path

Since I don't have a completed painting for today, I posted one done earlier. This path is one I sometimes take when I'm out for a walk.
