Sketch of Lexie Sleeping - original oil pastel figurative drawing

I started this sketch with watercolor, but after about three strokes, I knew it wouldn't work out, (as most of my attempts with watercolor do).  So, onward with my trusty oil pastels.  The support is 9 x 12" 140 pound cold press watercolor paper which worked out well - it's really a lot like Sennelier oil pastel paper.  Thanks for stopping by!

Nude Study - original oil pastel painting of a nude

Here's a quick drawing of a nude - never totally finished - that I did back in October.  It's on Sennelier oil pastel paper about 11 x 9". This paper is white, 160 lb. and pebbly - I love it.  Thanks so much for looking!

Orange Robe - original oil pastel figurative painting

Here's more fooling around on the carton board.  One of my teachers - many, many years ago - read a survey to the class in which one of the findings was that orange was the most disliked color in a painting.  I am always disregarding that, because I love orange - can't wear it, but can use it in paintings like crazy.  So sometimes, when the model wears red, I just take it into the orange range.  The size is 12 x 9".  Thanks for stopping by! Torchsinger II - original oil pastel figurative painting

I was in an oil pastel mood today and am always fascinated by the emotion of the "torch singers" of years past - hence today's painting. Although I will probably do another - probably larger - painting of this in oil, I loved doing the oil pastel.

On Colourfix paper, it's about 12 x 9".

Folk Dancer - original charcoal figurative drawing

I was watching a group of dancers from Central America and this enthusiastic young lady was in front of me - she put her soul into her dancing and it was wonderful to watch.  I did a quick gesture drawing and continued with this drawing even though she only held this position briefly.  I was forced to remember the pose even though the model had moved on - a great drawing exercise.  And not too bad for helping my memory, either.   It's 8 x 6" on charcoal paper.  Thanks for stopping by!
