Girl on a Sofa - original figurative oil sketch by Connie Chadwell

I had fun doing this little painting, which is really a preparatory sketch for a larger, more complicated one that I am planning to do later. This time I used thalo blue, which gives that greenish color - don't know if I'll keep using it or if I'll go back to another blue. I do love greenish blues, though, so maybe. Today's painting is done on gessoed panel and is 8 x 10".  Thanks so much for visiting my blog! I always love the contemplative nature to your well contemplative women. I like her skin tone against that pale background....What's thalo blue well it's a pale green, so it works well against the red and her skin.
Happy merry to you!

So lovely, Connie~! The body language and palette all speak the same mood.

A very nice sketch. I particularly like the handling of the fore leg and foot.

Very nice! You make it look like a simple, quick sketch, but it only works because you've got the placement and weight of everything spot on. Not so simple! You are gooood.

Thanks so much, Bill - glad you like the foot. It was fun to try and keep it loose.
