The Artisan - original charcoal portrait drawing

This drawing was done in a 20 minute session today - we were very lucky to have this excellent model and he's a new one, too! I'm such a fan of drawing from life in short poses, anywhere from one to twenty minutes, to keep drawings fresh and unlabored. At least I feel it works for me. On Strathmore 400 drawing paper, this vine charcoal drawing is 24 x 18".

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I really like the strength and directness of this drawing! The spontaneity is great, as is the dramatic lighting.
